So we've created this Events and Announcements blog so groups can post their parties, meetings, events, whatever, and anybody can find them really easily. We send out a weekly e-mail with a What's on Tap for this week and if you subscribe you get all the events on the calendar. I think it's a cool idea, thoughts? ideas? criticisms?

- adam

The last three blog posts I've created (in three different blogs) have all been about my breakfast this morning at University Hall with Dean Gross. I'm suprised I got so much out of it, considering my lack of sleep, etc., but there was a bunch of great stuff discussed I think couldn't be more relevant to the point of this site.

This blog is dedicated to discussing the ongoing (and very necesary) efforts being made by the University to foster social life at Harvard. At a place that is so high octane, having time to keep back is clutch. (nice car references...)

Dean Gross talked about 4 things the College is thinking about/doing I thought worth mentioning.
1) A permanent pub. Building of the success of Pub night, the school is putting a permanent pub in Loker. Good idea, right? Interesting point though, the design is going to be "old Harvard." Plush couches, wood panneling etc. Apparently that's what students want...true or false?

2) A cafe in Lamont. So clutch. Dunkin' Donuts sucks. Dean Gross said they might put it in the periodical room with the big windows. I think this is a great idea. Last night at Brown I saw they had one in their library and it was very popular.

3) A Student Center. But this is not coming soon nor is it coming to a place near you. There was some talk of one in Allston. That'd be a fun walk. I still think its an outrage that the library people got that space on Mt. Auburn by Felipe's. I know the librarians don't want to give up their prime real estate, but I say kick them out and do a remodel.

4) Harvard Square businesses. Apparently the commercial space under the library offices is going to be leased to "student friendly" kinds of businesses like Felipe's etc. Harvard square businesses are the worst. I don't understand why there are 5 banks for a bunch of broke college students.

So...thoughts?
